The advantages of variable rate fertilizer application have been proven year after year, but variable rate planting is new to many. With over four years of experience with writing planting prescriptions, we can demonstrate the value of adjusting seeding rates as you move across your field.
There is not a silver bullet to variable rate planting. We have utilized many different layers to create prescriptions. Soil types, organic matter and yield history are only the beginning of creating a sound Variable rate population recommendation. We have found that every field seems to have different correlations to population changes. One field may have the same soil type as another field, but with different fertilizer practices and crop rotation, each field seems to react differently. Central Advantage does an exceptional job of checking its work by ensuring we have developed the best recommendation for each acre. We check each population zone with high checks and low checks so we can adjust each prescription to maximize its return.
