Regional Agronomy Sales Manager

As a Regional Sales Manager for Central Valley Co-op, you will be responsible for Agronomy sales in your assigned region. You will recruit, develop and retain a talented Agronomy sales team. In addition, you will provide leadership and accountability for your sales team in order to achieve sales goals and directives. You will grow market share by building relationships with strategic customers, both personally and through others on your sales team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervises, coaches and motivates Regional Sales Agronomist (RSM) to reach their maximum sales potential in our key sales areas (seed, fertilizer, chemistry and advance cropping systems).
2. Leads the sales strategy and gives hands on support to employees and key accounts by being a player/coach that is deeply involved.
3. Creates and develops intimate relationships with targeted and assigned customers by focusing on top business and relationship accounts.
4. Spends time in the country working with RSM’s and farmers to earn business and manage assigned accounts.
5. Participates in research and analysis of financial, technological and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity.
6. Achieves satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to preset standards, industry and economic trends.
7. Manages customer accounts to include developing whole farm plans, forecasting agronomy inputs, price negotiations, technical coordination, contract preparations, contract closures,complaint resolution and contract collections.
8. Expands on current knowledge of agronomic products, trends, problems and challenges to make educated recommendations to producers.
9. Creates and communicates plans for sales growth in the Agronomy division.
10. Acts as a coach/mentor for individual sales employees.
11. Establishes and monitors sales budget for individual sales employees.
12. Establishes ride along protocol to develop and monitor time management and prospecting practices.
13. Manages and organizes sales activities to ensure proper timeliness and content.
14. Creates and monitors accountabilities/goals for the Agronomy sales team.
15. Oversees training needs of Agronomy sales team.
16. Plans, assigns and directs work of employees
17. Completes performance appraisals, rewards employees, disciplines employees, addresses complaints and resolves employee problems in conjunction with the Division head.
18. Comply with current Central Valley Co-op credit policies.
19. Maintains and promotes a safe work environment.
20. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Yes – directly supervises assigned Regional Sales Agronomists and Agronomy Sales personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Leads with integrity and must have good decision making and good judgment skills in order to handle the confidential nature of duties, tasks and information.
• Must possess good speaking, writing and time management skills.
• Excellent problem solving skills required.
• General mathematics and accounting skills required.
• Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Four year college degree in a related field and/or five years of agricultural retail experience required
• Minimum of five years’ coaching/guiding a sales team preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS
• Valid driver’s license
• Class B CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsement preferred
